KONI downhill ATTACK by jet-hot
Got an old Power Wheel collecting dust in your garage? Here’s your chance to repurpose it into track car. Don’t have one, no worries, there’s always a bunch on Craigslist for sale and if you want to go all out, you can always purchase a new one. The Koni Downhill Attack by Jet-Hot gives you the chance to race on the iconic VIRginia International Raceway just like the pros for a fraction of the cost (and the size).
One of our most popular activities at HyperFest, the KONI Downhill Attack! by Jet-Hot is your chance to show the kids what their Power Wheels vehicle is REALLY made to do! This is absolutely the cheapest way to experience the legendary "Roller Coaster" section the 3.27-Mile Full Course at Virginia International Raceway during HyperFest.
Only 60 lucky drivers will be able to compete for the Championship. Don't despair because ANY driver that has registered and completed the pre-event requirements will get at least one shot for immortal glory in the "All Race", featuring a Le Mans Style Start. If one of the 60 registered drivers is unable to attend or doesn't check in at the event, you may get called in to fill their spot. Make sure that you follow all pre-event instructions received and that you physically check in at the Power Wheels Booth on Saturday after 10AM.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
All drivers (confirmed racers or waitlist) must check in at the Power Wheels Booth on Saturday from 10AM - 3:30PM to sign waivers and get their race number. Waitlist drivers will be notified if there are any unclaimed spots and they have made the race at the driver's meeting held at Turn 14 before the race.
competition RACES
Three heat races of 20 drivers each, who were first to register and snag a spot in this popular activity. The top 3 finishers from each heat race will get a front-row spot in the Main Race for the opportunity to be crowned the 2024 Winner of the KONI Power Wheels Downhill Attack! by Jet-Hot!
ALL RACE
Takes place directly after the Competition Races and Trophy Ceremony. All registered drivers who have completed the necessary pre-event registration followed the rules can participate, even if you weren’t in the Competition Races. This event will feature 100+ Power Wheels vehicles and their brave pilots all competing to conquer the Roller Coaster. Did we mention it has a Le Mans Style Start? Yeah, it’s awesome!
WHAT DO I NEED?
All you need to compete is a Power Wheel style vehicle, a helmet, and your skill (..err maybe more like courage). Please review the Official Rules posted lower in this page. Participation is free and in addition to bragging rights for a year, you also have a chance to win $100, some other great prizes, and most importantly one full year of glory and bragging rights.
As in previous years, on Saturday we are also hosting a Concours-style car show in the vendor area for the Power Wheels Downhill Attack! race cars. Let the crowd come check out your incredible child-sized creations. Registration opens at 10AM and the judging will start at 3PM. The winner will be announced track-side before racing commences.

Yes, it has been known to happen (see pics above) and injuries may occur. Generally participants just spin out or drive off the track and land in the grass, but there are occasional crashes on the asphalt. We do ask that everyone exhibit sportsmanlike conduct and not directly wreck or cause someone else to crash on purpose.
